Getting Started
1
Add your roster. Tap the Roster tab and add each player with their name and jersey number.
2
Time your runners. In each player's detail screen, use the stopwatch to record 2–3 steal attempts from 1st to 2nd. Runner Pro averages the times automatically.
3
Build your opponent library. In the Opponents tab, add pitchers and catchers with their times. These save all season so you never re-time the same pitcher twice.
4
Start Game Mode. Tap the Game tab, select today's pitcher and catcher, and the full steal grid appears instantly — green, yellow, and red.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do the colors mean?
Green (GO) — the runner's steal time is faster than the pitcher + catcher combined, by more than the buffer. Strong chance of success.
Yellow (MAYBE) — the runner is within the buffer window. Use your judgment based on game situation.
Red (NO) — the runner is likely to be thrown out. Don't run.
What is the buffer setting?
The buffer is a margin of safety — the number of seconds that separates a green from a yellow decision. The default is 0.3 seconds. You can adjust it in Settings (0.1 to 0.8s) to match your coaching style. A larger buffer means you only send runners who have a clear advantage.
How do I time a pitcher during a game?
In Game Mode, tap the stopwatch icon next to the pitcher's time in the game summary bar at the top. This records a temporary time for the current game without overwriting the saved library entry. The steal grid updates immediately.
What is "pinning" a time?
When you have multiple timed reps for a player or pitcher, Runner Pro uses the average by default. If you want to use one specific rep instead — for example if conditions were different for other attempts — tap the 📌 pin icon next to that time to lock it in. Tap again to unpin and return to the average.
Does Runner Pro work without Wi-Fi?
Yes — Runner Pro works entirely offline. All your data is stored on your device. No internet connection is ever required.
Will I lose my data if I delete the app?
Yes. All data is stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes all roster and opponent data. We recommend using the Export Backup option in Settings before uninstalling to save a copy.
How do I measure steal time correctly?
Start the stopwatch the moment the runner's lead foot leaves 1st base (first movement), and stop it when they touch 2nd base. For consistency, time 2–3 reps and let Runner Pro average them. For pitchers, start at first movement and stop when the ball hits the catcher's glove. For catchers, start when the ball hits their glove and stop when it hits the 2nd baseman's glove.
